(weight) and not by size. Some gemstones are denser
than others (i.e., they weigh more than other stones of the same
size). For example, rubies and sapphires are heavier than
emeralds of the same size. So in some cases, a smaller
stone will actually be heavier (and therefore more expensive)
than a larger one.
